It all started when…
Always eager to meet new people and learn new cultures, Shay Coker moved to Brazil after graduating with a Master’s degree from Thunderbird, the School of International Business.
He gained nearly two decades of business experience in Latin America, serving in a variety of executive and entrepreneurial roles with companies such as Dell and Mail Boxes, Etc. before joining JLL in Sao Paulo.
A knack for developing relationships, a commitment to serving others, an outstanding work ethic and a longtime passion for learning are the hallmarks of Shay Coker’s real estate career.
As early as his first days in business and now, Shay, a Commercial Broker with Douglas Elliman, applies new techniques to his business development. “I’ve always been passionate about finding those special properties that will work for my clients and their business,” says Shay.
Specializing in tenant representation, Shay assists companies relocating to South Florida as well as established companies with site selection, lease negotiations, and the purchase and sale of commercial properties such as industrial warehouses and office buildings.
“I thrive on giving my clients what they want and need,” Shay’s consultative approach and determination are hallmarks of his success. His experience throughout the US and Latin America makes him an invaluable asset for all commercial real estate pursuits, both in South Florida and internationally.
In his 12 years of real estate experience, he has represented banks, hedge funds, tech firms, manufacturing companies and more. His client list includes Banco Itaú, D1 Capital, IBEX Mercado, Linde, Volkswagen, P&G, and Iron Mountain.
And despite how busy he is as a top agent, Shay still devotes energy to supporting the international community in Miami. He serves on the Board of Directors of the International Executive Resources Group (IERG), a professional organization that serves as a forum for senior executives who have the shared experience of living and doing business in an unfamiliar culture. He speaks fluent Portuguese and Spanish.
Another of Shay’s passions is the virtual currency world of Bitcoin. He loves to educate people on the positive impact it can have on global payments and the financial system. He hosts the Miami Bitcoin Meet-up each month, where the sharpest minds in the space get together to discuss the latest developments and help educate.
And, because even busy executives need to have some fun, Shay plays competitive tennis, padel and pickleball. He even occasionally travels to play in tournaments throughout Florida and the US.
